Dirty windows show up worst on a bright Bristol morning
You notice it standing at the kitchen window with a coffee: the light catches the glass and every smear and water spot is suddenly right there in front of you. From outside it's worse, with streaks down the pane and grime sitting in the corners, making the frames look tired before the house needs anything else doing to it.
Leave it a season or two and that grime works into the sealant round the frame. This happens especially on the older sash windows you get a lot of round here. What starts as "the windows need a wipe" turns into frames that need proper attention. A regular clean stops that slide before it starts.
I'm Darren. It's a family-run business and I've been doing this round Bristol for about six years now. There's a fair few streets where I know the windows better than the postman. If you're weighing it up, just call or text me on 07931 813332 and I'll tell you straight whether your place needs a one-off or a regular round.
How I clean windows without a ladder against your wall
I use a water-fed pole system. No ladder goes anywhere near your walls or guttering. The pole carries pure water up to the glass, the brush loosens the dirt, and the water rinses it away completely clean. No streaks. No residue. It dries clear because there's nothing in the water to leave a mark.
This matters more in Bristol than most places. A lot of the housing stock here, particularly the Georgian and Victorian terraces round Clifton, has period brickwork and older pointing that I don't want to be leaning a ladder against anyway. Upper floor sash windows on a three-storey terrace are exactly the sort of job that's slow and risky the old way.
With the pole, I can reach third-floor glass from the ground, safely, without setting foot on your property or your neighbour's wall. Quicker for me. Safer for you. And no ladder marks on the brick.
Regular cleans that keep glass and frames from going bad
Bristol's wet, mild climate means grime doesn't really stop building even outside of winter. Rain brings dust and traffic film down onto the glass and it dries there. Then the next lot of rain adds another layer. On a regular clean, four or six weekly depending on the property, that never gets the chance to set in.
The glass stays clear. The frames stay in better nick because the dirt isn't sitting against the sealant and paintwork. The whole front of the house looks cared for, which matters on the terraces that sit right on the street where every window is on show.
Skip it for six months and you're looking at ingrained dirt that takes real work to shift, plus frames that have been sitting damp and dirty for longer than they should. Regular is genuinely cheaper in the long run, both in what it costs and what it saves your frames. Get in touch on 07931 813332 and I'll get you set up on a schedule so it's one less thing to think about.
A round you can actually rely on
I'm fully insured, so if anything ever did go wrong you're covered. No awkward conversations needed. The bit customers mention most is the text the night before. You get a message so you know I'm coming, roughly when, and you're not left wondering if today's the day or guessing whether to move the car.
Payment's simple too. Direct debit or cash, whichever suits you. No apps to fiddle with. No invoices chasing you a month later. It's the kind of round where you book me once and then just let it run.
That night-before text earns its keep on parking too. I'll be honest: parking is the one real headache in this job, and anyone who tells you otherwise doesn't work these streets. The narrow Victorian terraces round Bedminster, with cars parked nose to tail on both sides, are a good example. There's no getting round it being tight.
The text gives you the chance to leave a space if you've got one, or let me know if there's a trick to parking on your road I wouldn't otherwise guess. And where there's genuinely nowhere to park, the water-fed pole still does its job from further down the pavement in most cases, since it reaches well beyond arm's length anyway. It's rarely a reason to skip a house, just something we work around together.
Book Darren for a clean round you never have to chase
When your windows are looking tired, or you just fancy one less job to think about, drop me a line and I'll get you onto the round. Text or call me, Darren, on 07931 813332, tell me your street and roughly how often you'd like it done, and I'll sort the rest, including that reminder text the night before so it's never a surprise. Whether it's a one-off clean before visitors arrive or a regular round you can forget about once it's booked, the number's the same: 07931 813332.
FAQs
Frequently asked questions
- Price depends on the size of your home and how many windows, so I give you a straight quote up front with no surprises. Text me your address on +44 7931 813332 and I'll sort a price the same day.
- Most Bristol homes do well on a four to six week round because our damp, wet climate brings the grime back quicker than drier parts of the country. If you're near a busy road like Gloucester Road you may want them more often, and I'm happy to set the interval that suits you.
- No. I work from the ground with a water-fed pole, so as long as I can reach the windows and any locked gates are open you don't need to be in. I text the night before so you always know I'm coming.
- The water-fed pole system rinses with purified water and it dries clear on its own with no smears or spots, so a bit of water on the glass straight after is normal and normal tap-water marks won't form. Give it an hour and they'll look spotless.
- Yes. The pole reaches the top windows on the tall Clifton and Redland terraces from the ground, so there's no ladder against your brickwork or sills. It's safer for the property and for me.
- I clean the glass, the frames and the sills as part of the job, which matters on older Bristol properties where dirt holds damp against the paint and seals. You get the whole window looking right, not just the middle pane.
- You can pay by direct debit or cash, whatever's easiest for you. There's no contract tying you in, just a reliable round you can stop any time.
- It's ideal for them. Clifton's conservation homes and the older Georgian and Victorian stock get cleaned with no ladders touching the brickwork or windows, so there's no risk to old frames or render. Everything is done gently from the ground.
- Yes. Tight terraced streets in Easton, Southville and Bedminster are no trouble with pole gear, and you don't need to move any cars for me. I just need to get to the windows.
- I cover Bristol across the city, from Bishopston and Westbury-on-Trym down to Totterdown and Brislington. Text your postcode to +44 7931 813332 and I'll confirm and quote.
